70 Years of Legendary Flavour

Johannesburg's most iconic takeaway — born in Fordsburg, 1956. Five corners. One unforgettable taste.

Our Story

From One Corner to the Whole City

In 1956, Khadija Akhalwaya opened a tiny shop in Fordsburg to feed her eleven children. What started as a mother's act of love became a Johannesburg institution.

Through apartheid evictions, the 2021 fire that burnt the flagship to the ground, and the community revival that brought it back — Solly's Corner has fed legends, refugees, regulars, taxi drivers, students and CEOs alike.

Same recipes. Same family. Same corner. Seventy years on.
